  • "Comfortable travel"

The standard cabin was really comfortable and there was a lot of interesting things to do on board. The only not so good thing I have to say is the fact that there is a charge for WiFi and its not cheap. Recommend having stuff downloaded on your device before you travel. Also there is no signal on board and the charge for calls is around £1.5 per minute (I am with tesco mobile). Overall a very nice and comfortable experience, good value for money and very friendly and helpful staff.

  • "A good end to a good holiday"

We turned up at Ijmuiden ferry terminal in plenty of time after visiting several European countries. We were whisked through immigration etc and before too long told to drive into the ferry which was great. Had time for a quick shower and to go on deck as it was a nice sunny day and that was before the ferry actually disembarked! We had a very enjoyable prebooked evening meal in the buffet restaurant with friendly waiting staff on hand. The outside cabin on deck 7 was very comfortable and all facilities on board were just right. All in all a great relaxing end to a super holiday.

Newcastle Guide

The English city of Newcastle is located in the north east of England, with one of the largest seaports in the country. DFDS Seaways operates daily ferry routes between the Port of Newcastle and Amsterdam, usually lasting around 15 hours which varies from season to season.

This vibrant city is full of history, with its centre containing more listed classical buildings than any other city in the UK, and has many interesting things to see and do including the elegant streets of Grainger Town, through to the modern Gateshead Millennium Bridge. The iconic bridge is a popular attraction owing to its unique architecture and tilting mechanism, while in contrast there is Whitley Bay: a popular seaside resort with a golden sandy beach and seafront promenade.

For lovers of history, Hadrian's Wall was built by the Romans in 110 AD which lies not too far away, but heading back to the city, there is the Gateshead Music Centre, which was recently redeveloped at a cost of more than £50 million.
