Venezia Lines

Venezia Lines is a high-speed passenger ferry operator linking the North Adriatic coast of Italy with numerous locations on the northwest coast of Croatia, and Piran in Slovenia.

As their name suggests, Venezia Lines sails primarily from the Italian port of Venice, while services have, in the past, run from Rimini and Bari. Operating their first trip in 2003, Venezia Lines is now a leading company in the Adriatic Sea thanks to the backing of Virtu Ferries; they have since carried over a million passengers between Venice and the northern coasts of Croatia and Slovenia.

Running from April to October, Venezia Lines can carry around 300 passengers per trip, and with crossing durations of between 2 ½ and 4 hours, depending on the route, they are by far the fastest carrier linking the North Adriatic's ports, averaging a speed of about 35 knots. The 2 ships are air-cushion vessels called San Frangisk and San Pawl, combining all the advantages of hover crafts and catamarans, resulting in higher speeds, lower fuel consumption, less wave-making and higher manoeuvrability owing to the significant reduction of water resistance.

Venezia Lines Customer Reviews

  • "Our one way trip Rovinj to Venice "

We booked on line for a one way trip from Rovinj to Venice. We weren’t aware that the ferry went from Rovinj up the coast about 30mins to Poric - this wasn’t clear on the website. Picked up a boat load of passengers there and only then went on to Venice. The Catamaran was comfortable and staff welcoming. Most of the people onboard were doing the return day trip to Venice, so there were long presentations from the staff about extra excursions, some history about Venice etc. It seemed rather expensive for us for just a one way ticket - approximately €60 each ($100AUD each) for a 3hr boat trip. We paid only $30/€18 for a 6hr Catamaran from Zadar to Pula.
