Fiumicino Guide

Fiumicino Ferry Port

Found 34 miles to the west of Rome, Fuimicino Port is found on the west coast of Italy, bordering the Tyrrhenian Sea. Originally built by the Roman Emperor Claudius, the port was made with the intention to supply Rome with other key areas of their empire. Now it is primarily used as a fishing and leisure port, as well as being ideally located for ferry routes. Strategically placed, Fuimicino Port is generally used for passenger traffic to Ponziane Islands, Flegree and Golfo Aranci. The crossing is provided by Compagnia di Navigazione Tirrena on their fast ships, which depart from the port fairly frequently. The port also handles petroleum products thanks to the close proximity of the oil plants. The ferry terminal is situated at the end of the pier, which is popular among passengers for the beautiful views, making a pre departure walk very worthwhile.
