Events in the city do not stop in the winter as the city is host to many exhibitions, expositions, concerts and other creative activities. Perhaps the jewel in the crown of the city are the internationally recognised performances of the Liepaja Theatre and the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra.

The German city of Lubeck is well known for its many Gothic buildings and for its tasty marzipan. Perhaps the most popular tourist attraction in the city is the 15th century Holstentor gateway, which has a truly fairytale appearance with its two cylindrical towers.
