Norled

Norled, a subsidiary of Stavangerske Dampskibsselskab, is one of Norway’s largest shipping and express ferry operators, connecting Oslofjorden in the southeast and Troms, a county in northern Norway.

Having recently heavily invested in brand new vessel designs with environmentally friendly technology, it has become one of the greenest shipping companies in Europe, with a fleet composed of 80 modern ferries. Since the company was originally founded in 2007, when it was named Tide Sjo, it now boasts more than 1,000 employees with headquarters in Stavanger and offices in Bergen and Oslo. Moreover, possessing a business vision of ‘good travel experiences through innovative solutions and proud employees’, you can expect a high-quality and memorable service.

Sailing with Norled allows you to enjoy some of the most tranquil and mesmerising sights in Norway: the world famous fjords. One of the planet’s most fascinating geographical phenomena, these geological formations are also steeped in history, with the very same waters chartered by Vikings over a period of 250 years.

With directferries.ie you can find Norled timetables, fares and book Norled ferry tickets. Where applicable we’ll also compare Norled with alternative ferry companies.

Norled Customer Reviews

  • "Flåm to Bergen Ferry "

The ferry provides a link between Flåm and Bergen through the fjords. Don’t go on this ferry thinking you’ll get great viewing opportunities as it’s not suitable for this. The staff were very helpful, and provided information about progress and interesting sights along the way. The ferry’s fore and aft decks are either very narrow or cluttered with equipment that restricts viewing, frustrating many passengers during the journey. Despite this, it was a pleasant journey, departed and arrived on time, and was reasonably affordable.... no, it’s not for sightseers.

  • "Flåm-to-Bergen (via Sognefjørd) High Speed Ferry Passenger Feedback"

An excellent way to experience the Norwegian fjørd world for a spectacular 5-hours from beautiful Flåm to Bergen on the Sognefjørd. Superb photographic scenery in a safe and exciting way. Marks given below summarize our impressions on specific focus areas - all of which worked out very well. A remarkable service and great alternative to reaching Bergen after departing NSB main rail line at Myrdal and visiting Flåm enroute. Totally recommended. Here´s a tip for dedicated photographers: Take seating higher up than the waterline/lower level to avoid window splash during the high speed segments of the journey. Not a major problem at all, but only if you want to avoid water droplets in some of your photos. Lastly, the service rep at Direct Ferries in the UK helped us greatly in advising and confirming a change of dates for the tickets. Helpful, accommodating and efficient - could not have asked for more from the customer service centre, especially during the busy summer tourist season.

  • "Excellent fjord journey from Flam to Bergen"

Comfortable 5 hour ferry journey. Adequate external viewing space. Windows in seating area not brilliant for viewing because of spray. Reasonable food kiosk on board. Several short stops en route for viewing and picking up/dropping off passengers.
