Lying on the southwest coast of the French principality of New Caledonia, Noumea Port is on the southern peninsula. There are seven ferry routes departing the port to Tadine, We and Kuto Bay supplied by Betico ferry company.
Famous for its luxurious beaches and stunning landscapes, Kuto Bay is understandably a popular destination among tourists. The port of Kuto Bay is found on the south west coast of the Isle of Pines, which lays around 50 km away from New Caledonia. The biggest attraction for Kuto Bay, other than the sunny beaches, is the close proximity of the main sights of the islands. To embrace New Caledonian culture, there are several local shops selling souvenirs and traditional food. Other than shopping and sunbathing, snorkelling is the main activity of the island, with many tourists flocking to Kuto Bay just to experience the crystal waters and stunning coral. It is best advised to wear the appropriate attire; the water is deceptively shallow so the sharp coral is much closer than what it may seem when underwater. The snorkelling experiences are so highly regarded because of the secluded area of Kuto Bay – there will be no overbearing cruise ships passing to interrupt the tranquil environment. The only ships that will pass into the dock are from Noumea and the route will generally last around two and a half hours. The crossings are only twice a week so the port is one of the quietest and discreet in current use.
