Procida Guide

Procida Ferry Port

Procida is one of the Flegrean Islands that lay off the south west coast of Italy. The only ferry route departing the port is to Napoli on the south of the Italian mainland, with crossings ranging from 40 minutes to one hour.

What is there to do in Procida?

Procida is authentic Italy at its unashamed best; sun kissed streets are filled with colourful houses and youthful locals heading out to the shores. The smell of fresh coffee, pizza and seafood populate the air whilst the locals and tourists mix naturally among the charming, narrow pathways. Even in July, the height of summer, Procida isn’t inundated with tourists – the few hotels have spare rooms and it is easy enough to find towel space on the beach. The lack of tourism is equal to the lack of attractions, which possibly explains why the island hasn’t gained as much prominence as neighbouring coastal resorts - yet therein lies the appeal - no-one will be around whilst you admire the stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape. As beautiful as the picturesque hillside and mountainside is to enjoy, even the most enthusiastic nature lover can grow tired of the endless walking trails, greenery and rock formations. For the religious types, a church and cathedral reside in the centre, offering an insight into the architectural history of Procida.

How do you get around Procida?

If you have the time, explore Procida by foot. It is the perfect place to walk around the busier areas, enjoying the weather, welcoming atmosphere and delicious seafood.

Beverello is situated in the city of Naples, resting on the west coast of Italy, bordering the Tyrrhenian Sea. The ferry routes departing the port are to neighbouring islands around Italy such as Sicily, and other coastal resorts on the mainland.

What is there to do in Beverello?

Beverello is the quintessential Italian town – the piazzas are lined with cosy cafes serving delicious coffee and the streets are adorned by a mix of colourful and whitewashed houses, designed to stave off the intense Mediterranean heat. Throughout the year it remains an oasis of cool, calm and charm, never becoming overwhelmed by the influx of modern tourism. The town may have gone relatively unnoticed amidst the rise in prominence of Italy’s west coast, but those who have visited laud over the sumptuous pizza which has come to define Beverello. Di Machele is the most popular restaurant in town – you will typically have to wait a while for a table – but the fresh pizza makes it worthwhile. A few hotels and apartments are ideal for spending a few days in the quaint town, especially outlined to appeal to families hoping for a relaxing vacation or couples longing for a romantic getaway.
