Hellenic Seaways covers destinations to the Cyclades, Sporades and Saronikos Islands with their Flyingcat fleet which consists of five high speed catamarans, all of which offer a comfortable and luxurious crossing. Flyingcat 1 built in Norway in 1991 (the oldest of the fleet) and carries 352 passengers. Flyingcat 3 built in England in 1998 has a passenger capacity of 360, Flyingcat 4 the newest, largest and fastest ferry in the fleet (built in 1999) and can travel up to 40 knots, is 55 metres long and can hold up to 440 passengers. Flyingcat 5 built in 1996 in Norway can accommodate around 330 passengers while Flyingcat 6 was built in Singapore in 1997 and caters for up to 337 passengers.
As these highspeed ships generally operate on shorter crossings, there are no cabin facilities available. Seating can be pre-booked and comes in a choice of Economy class 1, Economy class 2 (different lounges) and Business class. This guide covers numerous vessels so availability may depend on the service you are travelling on.
Please Note: Whilst we have taken great care in making our Flyingcat guide as accurate as possible, onboard facilities, services and entertainment may vary depending on the date and time of year that you travel, facilities mentioned may change without notification and ferry companies reserve the right to operate vessels other than those mentioned at time of booking without prior notification.

Staff were excellent. All wearing masks and reminding passengers to wear masks. Vessel was extremely clean. Trip was punctual. I didn’t have anything to eat but looked like a good range of snacks available.

"efficient and hgh quality"
We travelled from Skiahjos to Alonissos and a fortnight later did the return trip. Very efficient, fast turn round at both ends. On the return journey the going was a little rough and some passengers particularly children were suffering sea sickness. the staff were very attentive and supportive

The trip to Poros went very well, the ferries were on time and were very comfortable. We found it a great experience as we hadn’t done this sort of thing before. All in all I would recommend Blue Star Ferries.

"You Need To Get The Tickets Before Boarding"
Whilst it was very clear and easy to book the Greek ferry tickets on the website the confirmation that you print off at the end of the process is NOT a ticket. You have to take the confirmation to the ticket office and get the actual tickets printed off or you will not be allowed to board the ferry. You must do this before boarding. Otherwise all good thanks.

"First class ferry"
The ferry Piraeus=Spetses=Piraeus is excellent. It boards really quickly and at any island stops on the way people disembark and embark really quickly. Efficient service, very clean and comfortable. Would recommend.

"Blue Star Ferries - Flying Cat in Greece"
Punctual fast ferries from Piraeus to the Islands. Great service - we are seniors and got help with our bags from friendly staff. Get there early as it’s a quick turnaround in Port. Advise booking in advance in August as very busy.

"Ferry ok BUT port a bit disorganised "
The ferry service from Piraeus to Hydra is fast and efficient. Bit of a scrum getting on the ferry but otherwise good. Don’t forget anything on the dock - the ferry won’t go back once shoved off. Some poor sole watched her bag disappear into the distance. The only negative would be Piraeus Port itself. It is not necessarily clear where specific ferries depart from - a sign post or two might help - perhaps that is the Greek way!!!!

"Super Efficient!"
I have to confess I was a little worried when the time of the departure was approaching and a ferry was still not on sight.... These guys are amazing.. Turn up just 5 minutes before departure or so and manage to offload and load all passengers to leave about on time!
