Poros is an attractive coastal town located on the southeast coast of Kefalonia, one of the Ionian Islands of Greece. Situated at the crossing point where the Vohinas river enters the sea, the name ‘Poros’ actually means ‘ford’ or ‘crossing’ in Greek. Poros used to be no more than a small cluster of fishermen’s huts, until the 1953 earthquake destroyed many of the surrounding villages and a new town was built.
