At more than 47,000 gross tonnes and 213 metres in length, the Spirit of France can carry more than 1,000 cars and up to 2,000 passengers. Spirit of France entered service a year later than her sister ship - Spirit of Britain, and with her shares the title of the largest ship to have been built for the Dover Strait.
Onboard you will find an international food court, bar and cafe, discounted shopping, a brasserie, games room, family lounge, bureau de change, free WiFi, an ATM machine, an exclusive club lounge and much more.
There are no cabins onboard the Spirit of France however seating is available in the club class lounge. Pre-book to enjoy a touch of luxury during your trip including a complimentary glass of champagne, tea, coffee, soft drinks and newspapers – all served by P&O Ferries friendly staff.
With a choice of bars and restaurants there really is something for everyone onboard the Spirit of France to suit all tastes and pockets. If you are travelling with the family then head to the Food Court, serving exciting cuisine from around the world - the place for a tasty curry as well as freshly prepared traditional British fare, like fish and chips! If you prefer to dine in style, why not try the Brasserie, with the highest quality food and wine served to your table.
The onboard coffee shops serve a selection of light snacks and pastries - plus a wide range of hot and cold drinks, including the famous Costa Coffee.
Check out the Bar for a fun and lively atmosphere and a perfect place to socialise whilst enjoying a drink. Those travelling with children may prefer the family lounge which features comfortable seating with a bar, light snacks, tea, coffee and soft drinks on offer.
In the summer months there’s also an alfresco bar.
There are some great bargains to be had in the Spirit of France shops with literally hundreds of products considerably cheaper than you can find anywhere in the UK. Not only will you find great savings of up to 40% off high street prices on selected fragrances, skincare and cosmetics, but you can also save up to 30% on wine, beer and spirits too. The onboard shop also stocks the latest in travel entertainment aimed at making your journey more comfortable, including the latest best-selling novels, toys and games for the whole family.
There's a variety of activities onboard for children including play areas and quieter spots for watching videos. During the summer holidays when many people take their family breaks, you will find children's entertainers onboard with specially trained staff to encourage creativity with some supervised painting or drawing, allowing parents time to sit and enjoy their own space.
If notified or requested staff will meet and assist customers with wheelchairs on the vehicle deck. All shopping, dining and seating areas on the Spirit of France are wheelchair friendly.

"My experience "
I would suggest to please book ur tickets directly from the carrier, they might seem bit more in price as compare to Direct Ferries but when it comes to do any change, it will cost you arm n leg. I booked my tickets via direct terriers and was suggested to book flexi tickets in case I would require to do any changes, this way I won’t have to pay anything extra, trust me no difference, I requested a change a date and was told that it will cost me 45 pounds . I decided not to and reached Calais without a change. P&O was not only helpful but also changed me only £20 pounds. They also did me a huge favour as to my surprise the ticket I was sold as Flexi ticket was actually not the flex ticket. P&O could have made me buy a new one but they were courteous and only made me pay a mere £20 pounds. I would never use them ever again.

"Great “Going on holiday” feel."
Was running late due to bad traffic. Phoned through to Direct Ferries. Was no.18 in the queue. Decided to call P&O Direct. Was directed to an operative in a short time. Very helpful gentleman who said that we may need to go on next one but messaged ahead on our behalf. Made it by the skin of our teeth-Message had been picked up. Smooth boarding. Beautiful weather and very smooth crossing. Lovely boat with excellent Club Lounge. Staff friendly -great refreshments. All over too quickly. Easy disembarkation -cavy wait to do it all over again. Really enjoyable crossing .

"Very efficient and pleasant crossing "
My family and I were very impressed with the service provided by P&O ferries. We rang the helpline to have our booking amended and the lady we spoke to was very helpful. Facilities for the children could be improved but with such a fast crossing they were able to amuse themselves.

"Last minute Business trip"
Having a sudden requirement to get to Ostend for the weekend I booked with Direct Ferries on Thursday to get a Friday crossing, returning on Monday. I was presented with a choice of times, prices and methods. It was easy to chose a suitable time to suit travelling arrangements. I arrived at the ports earlier than expected (no hold ups on the roads) and was given the next ferry which allowed me to arrive at least an hour early. A great service.
