Thira Ios Ferry reviews

  • "Excellent "

Easy to book on line. I would say it needs to be clearer that the email confirmation needs to be swapped for proper tickets (easy to do once you realise). The seajet was spacious, comfy and speedy. We were pleased with how smoothly it all went. Be aware that embarking is very fast. They turn the boat around in 5 minutes! We would certainly travel this way again.

  • "Santorini to Ios"

Great trip from Santorini - Ios, boat was over half an hour late on a 35m crossing but we didn’t mind that - seemed to be due to the busy port rather than the ferry company and the journey itself including the embarking and disembarking once in port was incredibly efficient.

  • "Quick, pleasant, and inexpensive"

Best Greek ferry ride in 3 years. Someone, noticing my heavy backpack, guided me to an elevator, which save my knees. The smooth and ridged areas on the gangplank were well spaced to keeping my balance and ensuring that my bag slided onto and off the ship.

  • "Great ride, poor communication"

It was a great ride and the ferry is very impressive. I would definitely recommend taking this ferry. Our ticket indicated that we had to be at the port 2 hours in advance. For us that meant being at the port at 5am to depart 7am. I thought that this waiting time might be excessive and therefore emailed direct ferries in order to ask whether we can be at the port later. The response I received was that we absolutely had to be there at 5 am. When we got there at 5am the ticket office was still closed. The ticket office only opened at 6:15. Therefore I don't understand by we had to be there at 5am. We also seem to be the only passengers that was there 2 hours in advance.

Ios Guide

The Greek island of Ios is part of the Cyclades group of islands and lies in the Aegean Sea between the islands of Santorini and Naxos. The island has a popular night economy, lovely beaches and a number of historical monuments which are popular with visitors. The island has been popular with tourists from around the world for many years and is definitely one of the most popular of the Cyclades islands. Chora is a typical Greek village on the island with traditional whitewashed buildings, winding streets and many colourful flowers. However, at night the sleepy village comes alive with many places to socialise.

Around the island there are many beaches with soft white sand just waiting to be explored, all of which are blessed with crystal clear waters. Perhaps the island's most popular beach is Mylopotas which is lined with bars, restaurants and places to hire water sport related equipment, and is over 1 km long. However, if you require a more secluded beach experience then Valmas or Kolitsani beaches are a good choice.
