Ship going out fine. Ship on route back quite dated and was cold inside throughout. Bathrooms in cabins would benefit from toiletries . Didn't expect bunk cabins as picture on website suggested otherwise.

Outbound fine , except couldn't understand the English announcements , return a nightmare arrived at Caen to be told we had to depart Cherbourg , said they had texted no good to us we were already travelling with no reception , having driven 250 miles we then had to dash to Cherbourg poor attitude from the staff at Caen . Arrived at Cherbourg boarded the boat no apology cup of tea nothing , yet again impossible to hear announcements . Having used up extra fuel had an uneasy time finding some on arrival . Both boats immaculate .

  • "Outstanding service "

I traveled with my wife from Portsmouth to Cean & back on both occasions I approached the information desk to ask, if it was possible form my wife & I could go down to our car before others gathered around the exit doors & stairs as my wife is undergoing Chemotherapy & has no resistance to viruses & infection due to no immune system. The answer was an immediate yes & we were asked to report to the desk a quarter of an hour before docking. We were then escorted to the car deck, one gentalman even requesting other. Passengers to move up the stair way as we came out of the lift. On the return journey I did not have a o explain why as the lady on reception remembered us both & agreed straight away with no explanation. This is defiantly above & beyond what we expected & please pass our thanks on to your reception staff on the Sait mon Michelle.

  • "Foot passenger review!"

I had to change a previous booking with Brittany Ferries as my ferry had been withdrawn from service due to a faulty propellor. I was advised that the replacement crossing would not be the same cruising experience and braced myself for this budget option! However I was very pleasantly surprised. My cabin was spotlessly clean, quiet and comfortable. Towels, bedding and toiletries were also supplied. All the staff I encountered were pleasant and very helpful. I felt safe and I was completely impressed with my crossing from Le Havre to Portsmouth.

Ticks all the boxes. Both legs of our round trip were on-time, reasonably smooth, and not too crowded. We ate at the snack bar both times, and the pizzas were excellent.

I thought Brittany ferries gave me good service overall , however if I had been told that I would be locked in the cinema for the duration of the film I would not have bought a ticket ,the situation reminded me of the Titanic disaster { the event not the film } had there been an emergency we would have been reliant on someone not panicking and letting us out

  • "Poor communication, better to go directly to ferry operators "

The booking was fine up to the point that there was an issue with the ferry and a change needed to be made. Tried making changes via Direct Ferries, but couldn't get through via phone and in the end gave up and went directly to Brittany ferries.

  • "Unpleasant crossing"

On the 14/09/2018, Our crossing was the worst of all my trip to France I ever got. After 4 hours drive to Portsmouth and another 4 hours drive to La Baule, I booked a cabin to relax my back and have a lay down, shower etc but that was not the case when enter the ferry, I asked one of your staff where are the cabins and he answer me straight away: is no cabin in this ferry, all chair. I have to sit with my wife again for another 5h 45 min. It was so cold and uncomfortable compare to the one on our way back. I also got disability with very painful working and no option when I was booking. I couldn't get place next to the lift and have to park on 4B then on the stair till 7th floor, walk always down to 7023 for my cabin. Always been good on crossing for me except this time which I really don't appreciate to be honest. I paid for cabin and not reclining chair.

  • "3rd time customer and will be back."

Our out bound sailing from Portsmouth on Mont St Michel went without a hitch both port side and onboard, this is a great ship, but our return on Normandie was a little different. The port at Caen was under heavy security with armed Militery and Police everywhere. Migrants were jumping on trucks and vans trying to get into the port and on to ships. We were stopped and searched at gun point 4 times, The migrents seem to be a real danger. All this security delaied the ships sailing by just 15 minutes now onboard the ship the Normandy seemed to be a lesser quality boat than the Mont St Michel but had more English staff.. food in the restaurant was cold and was sent back twice ended up getting a refund and going to the lounge snack bar for a microwave pizza it was ok but not what we realy wanted. Return crossing was slow and dull ( could be the return to the UK, end of the Holiday) leaving the ship was fast and easy untill security at boarder control searched twice ( We think they had some information re smuggling or just migrants, but security was the highest We have seen) the gards were plesent enough and got there job done and we were waved through and on the way back home. We will be returning to france but will use the Mont St Michel both ways next time as it is a 10/10 ship when we used it.
