Brittany Ferries

Brittany Ferries offer a wide selection of ferry routes to Western France and Northern Spain as well as a ferry service between France and Ireland.

When you sail with Brittany Ferries your destination port is more than just a port. Each of their destinations possesses its own character and is normally full of life with great places to shop, drink and eat.

Brittany Ferries offer a service which is centred on their luxury cruise ferries, which means your holiday starts the minute you step on board the ship.

The entertainment is varied and the food is French cuisine which of course has a great reputation. You can also shop in the many boutiques, or relax in your accommodation, which they have tried to make as comfortable and luxurious as they can.

On longer trips such as between England and Spain the cabin that you get can make a massive difference. Getting a cabin allows you privacy during the day along with a place to keep your belongings safe and by night provides you with a comfortable place to sleep.

Brittany Ferries also operate a no-frills service called Brittany Ferries économie on the Portsmouth Le Havre and Santander routes. The économie service is ideal for those who wish to travel to France or Spain at a very reasonable fare without either the cruise-style experience provided on other ships or the speed afforded by Normandie Express. Brittany Ferries économie uses the Etretat ferry.

  • " Mont St Michel crossing Portsmouth - Caen and return, March 2022"

We enjoyed the crossing, check in was efficient at both ends, staff very helpful, good knowledge of English. It would have been helpful if the menu for the self service was displayed outside the entrance, well before the meal, also a bread roll was available at the entrance but no plate or serviette to put it on.. In the bar the server very helpfully filled my water bottle and added ice, rather than asking me to purchase a bottle of water. Contacting them by phone was almost impossible - either engaged all the time or waiting for more than 40 minutes.

  • "Choppy Seas"

Ferry left on time but due to rough conditions arrived Portsmouth 3 hours later. Ship was well kept and very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good.

  • "Weathering the storm"

A stormy-day crossing when the ship followed the coast of the Cherbourg peninsular to keep out of the open sea and took rather longer than usual. But motion was relatively light and the Mont St Michel seemed well stabilised. Cafe, shop, bars closed for much of the journey. Very nice staff onshore at both Portsmouth and Cherbourg but unhelpful gallic shrugs when foot passengers were considerably delayed disembarking at Portsmouth. Seems the port authorities didn't have a driver for the shuttle bus and there was somebody being told how to do it ( 'Use the brake more, this way, the service road is there, etc....') to get us back to the the terminus! Stars not working in review!
