Operated by Stena Line on the Belfast Liverpool Birkenhead route
Purpose built for this Irish Sea route, the Stena Lagan was fully refurbished in early 2012 to complete its transfer into the Stena Line fleet having previously operated under the Norse Merchant, Norfolkline and DFDS Seaways brands.
Now a bright spacious and modern vessel, the Stena Lagan allows you to travel in comfort with all the onboard facilities at hand to make your journey as relaxing and fun as possible.
Onboard you’ll find a choice of lounge areas, a restaurant, bar, coffee house, cinema, children’s play area, Pod area with IMacs, en-suite cabins, shops, free Wi-Fi and more!
The Stena Lagan features a selection of 4 Berth cabins available in a choice of inside or sea view (outside). All cabins are en-suite.
A snack menu is available in the Barista Coffee House including a variety of coffees and speciality teas and tasty hot or cold snacks.
In the Metropolitan bar and grill there is a full menu available on both day and evening sailings with a selection of vegetarian options and kids meals available too.
There is a wide selection of goods available in the onboard shop from perfumes and aftershaves to confectionary and souvenirs.
The Stena Lagan also features an onboard cinema to keep you occupied throughout the journey as well as a 'Pod' Lounge with iMacs and free Wi-Fi.
Young passengers will be spoilt for choice in the Stena Lagan children’s play area (for children under the age of 10) complete with numbered block games, mouse hole maze, slung net bridge, crazy mirrors and a squeezer chicane.
The children's play area is always open however children must be supervised by an adult.
Baby changing facilities are available beside the Children’s Play Area.
All areas on the Passenger Deck (Deck 5) are accessible to customers with disabilities. A lift operates between the Main Deck and Passenger Deck.
Please Note: Whilst we have taken great care in making our Stena Lagan guide as accurate as possible, onboard facilities, services and entertainment may vary depending on the date and time of year that you travel, facilities mentioned may change without notification and ferry companies reserve the right to operate vessels other than those mentioned at time of booking without prior notification.

"Dementia, disability and Stena"
I travelled from Birkenhead to Belfast with my wife who is disabled and a dementia sufferer. The service we received from Stena from transferring on and off the ship and at reception on the ship when I asked if they did assistance lanyards like airports (which they do not, but said they would kook at it in the future) and the action the lady on reception took to help us, we can only give Stena and their staff the greatest praise.

"Excellent trip for our first time sailing!!"
As stated this was our first time sailing with Stena and it did not disappoint!! From the booking process right though to the disembarking process the whole service was excellent!! The arrival at both ports was easily signposted and the staff friendly and helpful. The facilities at the ports were adequate and enough for us to use. The staff on board were excellent and friendly and made our 5yr old one happy chappy! The only issue on the sail back was the cinema. The projector was clearly not working and we tried to watch Dumbo. However it kept freezing!! It’s only a minor thing however!! The food on board was lovely from the Met restaurant and the staff were excellent there too!! The canons were also clean and tidy and just what we needed!!

"Stena Great - Direct Ferries Not"
I found the online booking site difficult to navigate and unclear on detail. I booked the only seating available on the outward journey, ‘Stena Plus Lounge Seats’ didn’t indicate unlimitedfood & snacks through the duration of crossing and I unnecessarily bought food & drinks for the journey. On the return overnight crossing I made several online searches to clarify what exactly a 4-berth outside family suite comprised of and found photos of a spacious cabin with double bed, 2 singles and couch/bed. The actual cabin allocated to my party was disappointing and totally inadequate. Stena Guest Services informed me they dealt with many similar complaints to mine from people booking with Direct Ferries. I was actually unaware I was making the booking through a third party as the site appeared to hide this fact. I wrote a letter re all of the above over 4 weeks ago and still await a response. Stena were great, Direct Ferries not. My advice - Book direct with Stena.

"A M A Z I N G!"
Absolutely fantastic experience on my first time with Stenna ferries! Right from the staff on the port control terminal to every member of staff/crew on board. What professional, polite and excellent hospitality from everyone. Every member of staff when over and above with the service they provided and made me feel comfortable and at ease in a great way. Hats off for such a great service and to all those hardworking staff...you are amazing and your company should be very proud! Well done and until the next time keep up the great work! XX

"Enjoyable crossing"
Both crossings from Birkenhead to Belfast were very pleasant. Both ships were clean and staff very friendly. I would highly recommend getting a cabin which allows you to relax during the 8 hour crossing. Booking was very easy and the amendment i made on our return journey was completed with ease by a very friendly member of staff.
